Ann Kitchel of Huntington Farms in Vermont Breeds the Top-Priced Foal at the 2010 Oldenburg Summer Auction in Vechta, Germany
Release: June 29, 2010 Author: By Stephanie Law
The colt, Future Star, bred by Ann Kitchel of Huntington Farm in Vermont was astounding with very expressive and elastic gaits, and it is the international grand prix rider Ann Katrin Linsenhoff who will be taking him home after winning the bid for him at the Oldenburg Summer Mixed Sales Auction held on June 5 in Vechta, Germany.
Kitchel was thrilled with how well this colt was received by the judges at the Gut Füchtel foal inspection/show held in the spring. Out of 34 foals from a very competitive area around Vechta, Germany, her colt, sired by Floriscount (Florencio x El.St. Arkona, by Donnerhall) and out of VP Frieda (Dormello x St.Pr.St. Farnessa, by Silvio) stole the hearts of the judges and the 300 people in attendance. The judges were Jens Meyer, Hans H. Bruening, and Uwe Heckmann, who is the Auction Director of the Oldenburg Verband. They were unanimous in deciding that the colt should be the champion of the inspection and be awarded the premium title. He was also selected to be sold at the June Summer Mixed Sales Auction as an Elite Foal, and was later given the auction name Future Star.
Kitchel reports that this was Floriscount's first foal crop and "they were all super. One after the other...beautiful heads, necks and uphill movement." Foals sired by Statesman, who Kitchel bred, were also presented. She said the three foals by him were very nice, and she is "very proud to have bred such a spectacular stallion!"
Kitchel has been keeping a few mares in Germany at the Gut Fuechtel in Vechta for many years now, and is very thankful to Clemens von Merveldt and his team for their help with her mares and foals.

The "Open House" at Gut Fuechtel on April 24th was a huge success. 1500 people gathered in a beautiful, magical setting to view the first foal crop from Floriscount (Florencio-Donnerhall Waldorf) and Statesman and 3 foals from Detroit(Dimaggio-Lord Liberty G- Goldlowe). All three stallions were born at Gut Fuechtel. There were 34 foals in all judged by two judges from Celle and Ewe Heckmann from the Oldenburg Verband. The champion foal , a colt by Floriscount out of VP Frieda(Dormello-Silvio-Fernal)is owned by me!!! What a thrill!!! The day was topped off by great food and lots of good German beer!!
Needless to say Frieda has been bred back to Floriscount for 2011!!!
